To the ancestors of Tjeerd and Sjoerd Visser

The investigation to the ancestors of Tjeerd and Sjoerd has been done by: H. G. (Homme) de Groot, Frans and Anita Visser.

Frans and Anita has started long ago (1985) with genealogy; at first they investigated the family Visser. After his retiremant Homme de Groot has spend a lot of time in seeking his ancestors and those of his woman (Tine de Groot-Houben). After the death of Homme, Frans and Anita took over his work.

Homme de Groot traveled through Noord-Holland and Friesland for his investigation. He visited the municipality archives of Leeuwarden, Amsterdam and Assen, the realm archives of Haarlem and the Central desk for the genealogy in the Hague.
The ancestors of the de Groot family were mostly inland shipping captains and farmers in Friesland.

Frans and Anita found a lot of information in the municipality archives of Amsterdam and the realm archives of Haarlem. Lately we have found a lot of information on the internet. Especially from Friesland.
The Visser family came from Amsterdam (Jordaan) and were non specialist work men.
